From February 4 to February 12, 2012 Elder James Ramsay visited our partner church in Kampala, Uganda, Victory City Church Rubaga, and its pastor, Henry Mugisha. Victory City is growing and thriving. Pastor Henry reports that his people are growing in the Lord and many are stepping up to take on leadership responsibility. The sewing school is operational. The sewing machines are set up at the entrance of the spacious sanctuary. Neighbourhood ladies come to learn a trade that will help them support their families.

On Wednesday evenings several life groups meet to study the Bible in people’s homes. During Jim’s visit, the groups met together at the church. Jim spoke to them about the unity of the church, explaining that its unity is biblical unity in Christ.

On Sundays Victory City meets for a Luganda service at 8:30 and an English service at 10:40. On February 12, both services met together at 10 am. Jim preached on Christ’s commandment to love one another as He loved them. Simultaneous interpretation provided by Chris Kibirige, a member of VCC. Great music was provided by the choir, the band and the dancers. One new believer came forward and gave his life to Christ. After the service, a full dinner was served, consisting of traditional African dishes of beef stew, cooked banana and rice with peanut sauce.

Victory City welcomed Jim warmly. The people cherish the special relationship with Faith Reformed, and are encouraged to know that they are in the prayers of brothers and sisters beyond the seas. Foreign as we are on the surface, underneath we all feel kinship because our true citizenship is in the Kingdom of God.
