Brotherly love is the badge of Christ’s disciples

Devotion: “Look for Jesus”

Within the crowded city where life is swift and fleeting do you ever look for Jesus upon the busy street? Psalm 69:17, Do not hide your face from your servant.

So today be assured you are not alone-the Lord is with you always. Be thankful.

Scripture, Psalm 62:8, Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Pray for each other for blessings in abundance or if someone you know, or love is in crisis. We love our brothers and sisters in Christ and know that the Lord will hear our prayers. I have chosen some names that can be added to your daily devotions.

Have you ever felt like you really don’t know how to pray? You may go to a prayer meeting and notice that it is so natural and easy for others.

You may walk away wishing someone would teach you how to pray.

That’s exactly what happened to Jesus’ disciples. Many watched John the Baptist pray. Then as they followed Jesus, they watched him pray.

They saw how he loved to pray and as they listened, they realized the power and benefits of prayer. They approached the Master of Prayer, and asked Him to teach them how to pray. (Luke 11:1)

At this point in Jesus’ ministry, He gave them a model prayer, and also to each of us. “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Found in Matthew 6: 9-13. Actually it was called the “Disciples Prayer.”

    He taught us to pray in this manner;

Pray because of a relationship…..”Our Father”

Pray with respect and honour…..”hallowed be Your name”

Pray with an expectant heart…..”Your kingdom come”

Pray with a servant attitude…..”Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”

Pray with dependance…..”give us this day our daily bread”

Pray as a sinner…..”and forgive our debts”

Pray with a forgiving heart…..”as we forgive our debtors”

Pray to have a discerning spirit……” and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one”

Pray with a confident heart……”for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever”

Jesus did not suggest this prayer was a special formula. This was merely a guide as a sample of some of the elements that you should consider when you pray. (Matthew 69:13) Words spoken in prayer have no meaning unless uttered from a sincere heart. So take time to analyze the way you pray and follow Jesus’ model.

My prayer for all is to love one another with kindness and acceptance. God loves you and always will. He is there to listen and instruct with the help of the Holy Spirit who can lead us daily. Say a little prayer and all will be well. God’s word + prayer = POWER !!!

Have a blessed week, keep in touch with God.

Prayerfully yours,

Nancy
