AMASKIL OFDAVID, WHENHEWASINTHECAVE. APRAYER.
With my voice I cry out to the LORD;
with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD.
I pour out my complaint before him;
I tell my trouble before him.
When my spirit faints within me,
you know my way!
In the path where I walk
they have hidden a trap for me.
Look to the right and see:
there is none who takes notice of me;
no refuge remains to me;
no one cares for my soul.
I cry to you, O LORD;
I say, ”You are my refuge,
myportion in the land of the living.”
Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low!
Deliver me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me!
Bring me out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
Webring our petitions to you today. We pray for ourselves and others who, like David in hiding from his enemies in a cave, feel trapped, abandoned, isolated, lonely, afraid. We ask for mercy for those who humble themselves before you. You are our refuge and strength, our help in times of trouble. There is no darkness in you, only light. We must look to you in our dark times.
You are our faithful Father, our Good Shepherd, our Comforter. We especially ask for deliverance for our brothers and sisters who are suffering for the faith; those in prison, those who have been driven from their homes and suffered much worse.
Father, you are kind and just. We thank you that one day there will be justice for the oppressed and that the evils of this world will be no more. We thank you for sending Jesus to set the prisoners free, to heal the sick and hurting, and to restore our relationship with you. We look forward to the day when this broken world of sin becomes whole and we can be with you in perfect peace and joy in heaven. Come, Lor Jesus!
AMEN
