“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
I possess knowledge and discretion.
To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behaviour and perverse speech.
Counsel and sound judgement are mine;
I have sight, I have power.
By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just;
by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth.
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
With me are riches and honour, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me
and making their treasuries full.”
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
Today I pray for an increase in wisdom. I pray that more people will know you and acknowledge you and bow before you. As it is, the world is filled with people who do what is right in their own eyes, with little thought for those around them, and no idea of what they are giving up by pursuing their own agendas while ignoring your commands.
We pray especially today, in our unstable and unsettling world, for wisdom for our leaders in Canada at all levels, for Prime Minister Trudeau, and our next prime minister, for Doug Ford and the other premiers and all those in positions of power and influence. We pray for wisdom for them in these uncertain times. We pray for wisdom for President Trump, who has initiated many common sense policies but who is also unpredictable and who has made some disturbing threats towards our country in terms of tariffs and annexation in his pursuit of power. Many are angry or anxious about losing their jobs and we pray for calm and peace in our hearts, for we know you are sovereign over all the world’s leaders; you are the King of kings. It may be that this current tension will be a blessing to us if it means we come together as a nation with a plan for making our country safer, stronger, more prosperous and more cooperative with our allies. We pray for all leaders to know the fear of the LORD and to use their power accordingly.
Father, I pray that we might know you better by praying continuously, and by being more fervent in bible study and faithful in worship and witnessing. You are so faithful to us. We have seen so many prayers answered. Thank you, LORD! May we continue to come to you with all our petitions, because we know you love us and you are true to your promises. As we grow in the faith and in wisdom may our prayers be more and more in line with your will.
Father, by believing in your name we become heirs to a rich inheritance far more valuable than any earthly riches or power we can imagine and we are so thankful.
We praise you and give you the glory.
In Christ’s name. AMEN.
