“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Father, how often we try to do everything ourselves and let ourselves become overburdened and discouraged. So many things trouble us and bring us down. If only we would remember at critical times how much better things become when we come to you. Lord Jesus, you call us to come to you to unburden ourselves, because you are able to bear the weight for us. How could we forget this when you laid down your very life for our sakes? You are kind to the brokenhearted, the downtrodden, the poor in spirit, and a bruised reed you will not break. We often feel immediate relief once we have come to you in prayer to confess or share our struggles. Lord, may we be more disciplined in our prayer life so that we can be grateful in all circumstances and be refreshed every day with a sense of peace that comes only from you.
AMEN.
