The kingdom of heaven is like treasure in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again,
and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he
found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Our God and Heavenly Father,
We understand from Jesus’ parable that the kingdom of God is worth more than any earthly treasure, more than the most precious jewel we can imagine, and worth giving up all that we have to attain it. Oh that we might recognize the beauty and worth of the truth of the gospel and be willing to spend our time in pursuit of it, forsaking what is important to the world and mindful of the need to appreciate all the spiritual graces and gifts found only in the kingdom.
May it be so. AMEN.
