When the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
The world tries to earn your favour by doing good works. You are perfect, however, and we cannot possibly attain perfection on our own to satisfy you. Thank you for providing the perfect solution to our impossible situation. You sent Jesus to show us who you are and to die for us to take away our sin and impute his perfect righteousness to us. We can never be perfect in this life so it had to be the sinless Lamb alone who could take our place and incur your wrath. We thank you for raising him from the dead and through him giving us hope of life everlasting. We praise you for sending the Holy Spirit to be with us and to help us on the path to true obedience before we reach our eternal home. We thank you for this gracious plan of redemption and the hope you give us here on earth and the promise of a glorious eternity with you. Father, you are so good and merciful to us. Help us to be more and more like Jesus in our daily walk to further your kingdom and bring glory to your holy name. In Christ’s name we pray.
AMEN.
