Praying the scriptures: Philippians 4:5-7

The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Gracious God and most Heavenly Father,

You are with us. You are near us and ready to answer our prayers, so we need not be anxious about anything. We can come to you about anything. If we’re feeling guilty, we confess. If we are ill, you hear our cry and heal us or give us strength to endure. If we are joyful, you hear our praise and gratitude. If we are tempted, you sustain us. If we are in trouble, you comfort us and encourage us. In everything, those of us who love you and whom you love are given your peace in all things. A peace that we cannot achieve ourselves; it transcends our understanding and makes us feel safe in your arms. We are weak and sinful creatures, but you are our Almighty God who has saved us from our sins through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Our sins they are many, but your mercies are more! All thanks and praise to our mighty and triune God!

In Christ’s name. AMEN
