Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Lord Jesus,
You are our perfect example to follow. You are perfect, holy, mighty, loving, powerful, eternal and too beautiful to be limited by the adjectives we can muster to describe you. And yet you humbled yourself by being born in a stable, raised by a poor family, dismissed, maligned, rejected, beaten and murdered, all so that you could redeem us and save us from our sins. After you had accomplished this work, the Father exalted you and vindicated you and you are seated at his right hand in Heaven.
Lord, we remember what you suffered for us, and we pray that we may be humbled by this life-giving sacrifice, and live our lives with thankful hearts. Help us to remember that you can identify with our suffering because you have lived a human life and that you are the one we must turn to because you have demonstrated your love for us and your power to save. We turn to you now with all our petitions and ask for your mercy, knowing that one day our suffering will end and that we too will be exalted with all the saints. With deepest gratitude we pray.
AMEN
