When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
You sent your Son to earth at a particular time in history, when circumstances were just right to fulfill your divine plan, as foretold in the scriptures. The law pointed out how we are sinful and cannot possibly keep it in our own strength. Jesus, in his perfect righteousness, however, was able to be perfectly obedient and therefore be the only perfect, unblemished lamb whose sacrifice would be acceptable to satisfy the wrath of his Father for our sins. Jesus is the way through which all believers may be accepted as sons and adopted into the family of God, and this by faith in Christ and not by our works. Thanks be to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
