“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”.(Psalm 119:105)

Everyday we are confronted by the reality of evil doers and their wickedness. Home invasions; gun violence; those perpetuating the sex trade; drug traffickers; those who are violent; those performing atrocities and those persecuting Christians – the list is endless. All this happening locally, regionally, nationally and globally.
In our Daily scripture today, from Psalm 37:1 we read – “Do not fret because of those who are evil…”. It is easy to fret, and to be caught up in anxiety and fear. “Do not” is a command. But the question arises – how do we not fret? There are portions of this Psalm that gives us clues as to how to overcome fretting, fear and anxiety.
v.3 says – “Trust in the Lord…”
v. 4 says – “Take delight in the Lorfd…”
v. 5 says – “Commit your way to the Lord…”
v. 7 says – “Be still before the Lord…”
Verse 8 says that if we don’t do these things, we will be consumed with anger and wrath and become fretful and drawn in evil.
The goal of the Christian life is to be totally yielded and submitted to the Lord. “To trust Him, and to not lean on our own understanding, to acknowledge Him and let Him make the path straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Whatever wickedness you might be facing today, submit to the Lord, yield your mind, will and emotions to Him and walk in His light and with His peace.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that I don’t have to walk in fear or be anxious for anything. As I surrender all that I am to you, may your peace guard my heart, and the light of your Word guide my steps on your path. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
