Text: John 10:28-30

28 “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

There has always been this ongoing debate between those who declare that you can lose your salvation and those who believe that they are eternally secure. The argument goes that if a Christian sins, they forfeit their salvation and must have salvation restored by repenting. The verse from John 10:28-30 makes it very clear that a Christian, a believer, is in the hands of Jesus and in the hands of the Father. This means that believers are in the grip of grace; are in the grips of a personal relationship with God through Christ. And if I sin, my sin has NOT snatched me out of the hands ofgGod. But if I repent, the relationship is restored and the grip of grace is maintained.

Let me illustrate. I have an everlasting relationship with my Father. Nothing can change our status. I will always be his son and he will always be my father. And this is true even if we have a major argument. We don’t stop being father and son. Even if the relationship is disrupted, it can be restored through repentance and forgiveness. The same is true with us and God. When we sin, the relationship is disrupted not ended. And by repentance and forgiveness it is restored.

Do you have an everlasting relationship with the Lord? Take time to thank Him and enjoy the relationship that He sustains.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that nothing and no one can snatch me out ogf your hand. Jesus, thank you that nothing and no one can snatch me out of your hand. Holy Spirit fill me with the joy of salvation today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
