Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 1:1
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked”
We know that the Lord desires to bless us with His happiness, and with all that He is (see yesterday’s Daily Light Devotional). However, this “blessing” is not automatic, it is conditional. In this first verse of Psalm 1 we have the first of three conditions that need be met. This condition is that blessed man is NOT to walk in the counsel of the wicked. “The wicked” is not just a moral designation. It also refers to those who do not know the Lord; who are outside the Covenant. And counsel is any advice or wisdom that they may give. The counsel of the wicked is ungodly, ands it does not point to God. That is why we are reminded in Proverbs 3:5-6 to not “lean upon our own understanding”. We don’t need the wisdom of the world. The world’s wisdom is of no benefit and ill not help us to know any happiness from the Lord. Trust not the world’s wisdom; rather trust the wisdom of God as revealed in His Word. Do not walk in the world’s wisdom.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the reminder to not walk in or trust the world’s wisdom that is so often contrary to your Word. I submit to the authority of your Word and I submit to your Lordship. I will not walk in the wisdom of the world. Be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
