Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
July 14, 2026
Text: Psalm 119:7
I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules.
When you build a house, or a building for that matter, everything has to be square and plumb; everything has to line up with standards and codes. And when they do, you can enjoy the home you have built.
The same is truth when it comes to worshipping the Lord. Let’s start with the second half of the verse: “when I learn your righteous rules” (the standards and codes) and apply them to my heart, my life – I can then praise you with an upright heart (a heart that is right, inclined properly). This reminds us of the words of Jesus – that we are to worship the Lord in “truth and in spirit”. When we do this correctly, we can know the joy of the Lord.
Have you been learning the righteous rules of God, made known in His Word? If yes, you will know His joy.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me your ways, know in your Word, that I might enjoy you and bring joy to you today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
