Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

July 21, 2026

Text:  Psalm 119:12

Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes.

There are two parts to this verse. Part 1 – “blessed are you, O Lord”. This is an acknowledgement of the goodness and glory of God. To “bless” something is to praise it. And this is how this is translated in some versions of the Bible. The word “blessed” is from the Hebrew, “baruk”, which includes the act of kneeling. This is a statement of humble praise and adoration.

The second part of this verse is – “teach me your statutes”. When is humble, they become teachable. This is the complete act of worship: I humbly praise the Lord in order that He might teach me His ways.

Worship is an act of love, and if we love the Lord we will want to hear His Word. Furthermore, we will want to live out what we have heard.

Prayer: Holy are you, O Lord. I humble myself to you, asking that you would could continue to teach me your statutes, your Word, your Law and your ways. Be glorified in and through me this day. In Jesus’ name I pray. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
