Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
August 12 2026
Text: Psalm 119:28
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
It is an awesome thing to know the Lord will never abandon us. No matter what the circumstance, the Lord will never leave nor forsake us. And that includes the time when we are “weary with sorrow”. In fact, Jesus said – blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. While Jesus said this in reference to grieving over one’s sins, the promise of comfort is still there. Where does this comfort come from? On the one hand, comfort comes from the Holy Spirirt, who is called by Jesus “the comforter”. On the other hand, comfort comes from His Word. Some have suggested that the Bible contains 8,000 promises of God. Many of which can bring comfort in times of sorrow. The key to receiving comfort from God’s Word, is to be in His Word. He always knows what Word you need for comfort. Reading His Word, coupled with prayer becomes the means of comfort from the Lord.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word. Help me to be in your Word, so that at anytime I can draw from your Word the comfort that I need in times of trouble. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
