Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:29
Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law.
I have read where police officers have described how they deal with counterfeit money. They say its not about knowing the fake money, but rather its that they know the real money so well, that they can spot fake money instantly. This points to the need to know the Bible so well that we can detect false teachings immediately. Our understanding of “spiritual things” in our modern world is more defined by pop culture than the Word of God. And why is that? Because most Christians don’t spend sufficient time in God’s Word. Too many think that a Sunday morning reading during the worship service is sufficient. And because we don’t spend sufficient time in the Word, we have no idea the false ideas and doctrine that is infiltrating the Christian faith. We should be so in the Word, that we are inoculated against the false teaching out there.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, keep me in the Word so I can recognize the false teachings out there and be kept safe from the devils lies. In Jesus name. Amen.
