Daily Light: October 12th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

October 12 2026

Text: Psalm 119:71

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

One of the best ways to learn a new job is with on-the-job training; with a hands-on approach. The Christian life is on the job training, training us to get on with life. This is why the Bible says that afflictions are good for us, because the afflictions reveal the level genuineness in our faith (James 1:2-4 and1 Peter 4:12-13). Even when we are in the midst of affliction, we can still turn to God’s Word, and it can strengthen and encourage us. And if we stumble when we are being afflicted, it is still an opportunity to stay in the Word and keep learning from the Word.

How about you? Has affliction been good for you? Has affliction driven you back again and again to the Word?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the knowledge that all my afflictions make me both stronger and keeps me in the Word of God. May I always stay focused on Jesus, no matter what I am being afflicted with. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
