Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a Lamp to My feet and a Light to My Path (Psalm 119:105)
March 10 2026
Text: 2 Timothy 1:9
He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time…
In our contemporary world of evangelicalism, it is quite common to make a distinction between salvation and the holy life. A distinction is made in separating them and them that they are optional. Salvation is liked, but holiness is ignored. This separation lead believers down the path of believer that “as long as I am saved, I can do whatever I want”. That idea is completely wrong (see Roman 6:15)
The Israelites had the same kind of mindset. They would celebrate Atonement, know that they are forgiven and then go and worship at the pagan temples and engage the temple prostitutes. This is wrong too.
Salvation and holiness go together. And less we think that holiness “keeps” us saved, that is wrong too. The holy life that He has called us to live is a life of obedience in love and gratitude to the Lord. And we have been given this grace to be able to live the holy life. “Grace” also means power and we have been given the power to live the Godly life (see 2 Peter 1:3). This life that He wants us to live was set apart for us in Christ Jesus from the beginning of time.
As you live this day, ask yourself this – am I seeking to live the Holy life? Am I surrendered to the power in me to live this way? The way we get there is to die to self and surrender to the Lord.
Prayer: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the gift of salvation in Christ Jesus. And thank you for the gift of the Holy life, also found in Jesus. I surrender to that life in me. Live in me Jesus, empower me to live the life I was created for from before the beginning of time. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
