Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
In each of the first three verses of Psalm 23, the characteristics of Jesus is manifested in the following names:
Jehovah-Raah (The Lord my Shepherd): Verse 1 (“The LORD is my shepherd”) highlights Jesus as the one who leads, feeds, and cares for his followers.
Jehovah-Jireh (The Lord my Provider): Verse 1 (“I shall not want”) reflects that the Shepherd provides everything necessary.
Jehovah-Shalom (The Lord my Peace): Verse 2 (“He leads me beside the still waters”) shows Jesus bringing rest and quietness.
Jehovah-Rophe (The Lord my Healer): Verse 3 (“He restores my soul”) signifies spiritual and emotional healing.
Jehovah-Tsidkenu (The Lord our Righteousness): Verse 3 (“He leads me in the paths of righteousness”) signifies Jesus leading us into a right standing with God.
All these name remind us that Jesus is faithful and trustworthy and deserving of all our praise, adoration and obedience.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being my shepherd, my provider, my peace, my healer and my righteousness. May all that I do reflect your goodness and grace and bring glory to your name. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
