Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
We are reminded again and again, lest we forget, that you are a loving, compassionate and merciful God. You spoke creation into existence; the earth, the waters, the heavens, the sun, moon, stars; a world of beauty and goodness for us to enjoy. When sin entered the world, marring its beauty and goodness, you set your plan in motion for our salvation.
You chose and preserved a people to yourself, leading them out of slavery in Egypt and rescuing them from the influence of evil kings. You have always provided what was needed.
You rescue us from our foes and give us our daily bread. Only a loving, compassionate and merciful God would surrender his only Son up to the cross to save a wretched people from their sins.
We thank you for your steadfast love, and although we still sin, we are comforted by the promise that those who repent and believe are now forgiven sinners and heirs of a truly wonderful, eternal inheritance. We look forward to that day when we will be able to worship you and praise you perfectly for your enduring steadfast love.
