OF DAVID.
I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing your praise;
I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name
for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you increased.
All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O LORD,
for they have heard the words of your mouth,
and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD,
for great is the glory of the LORD.
For though the LORD is high, he regards the lowly,
but the haughty he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand delivers me.
The LORD will fulfil his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
On this Thanksgiving Day, we are so thankful for your love and mercy toward us. It truly is amazing grace. You sent your Son to die for us when we were sinners to restore us to yourself and give us blessings in abundance and eternal life. You sustain us and guide us, you answer our prayers and strengthen us, you bring peace and healing in a world of chaos.
Father, we praise your holy name. Father, one day all the kings of the earth will worship you. They will believe your word and know that your promises are true. They will sing praises to you and humble themselves before you. O LORD, you are the Almighty, the Omnipotent and Eternal One, mightier than any king or army or power in creation and yet you are also our gentle Shepherd. You love the poor and powerless and all those who come to you in need and sincere repentance. All can find their hope in you.
Heavenly Father, we have so much to be thankful for in our lives. We are so blessed with everything we need. Food, homes, families, friends, fellowship with believers and all the promises you have proclaimed to us in your Word. Thank you for keeping us safe. Help us to fulfil your purpose for us and keep us ever close. You alone are worthy of our thanks and praise.
