We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
It’s so important for us to listen carefully to what is being preached and to be obedient to the Word if we are to be strengthened in the faith. When we consider what it cost our Lord to save us, reading the bible ought to be a delight and not an obligation, and obedience and gratitude should be our natural response. Holy Spirit, help us to be more disciplined and eager to have a closer walk with Jesus, who came to earth, bore our sins on the cross, died and rose again. We owe him all we have and all we are. And we pray for our own pastor, that he may lead us faithfully in the truth.
In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
