Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a lamp to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Romans 8:33-34

“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

Recently we examined the verse from Romans 8:1 that tells us that because we are in Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation (judgement) for continued sin. And we dealt with the issue of guilt and shame because of ongoing sin. However, many will speak of the memories of their sins. The verse today says – “who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?” Or to put it another way, who is going to remember what we have done? No one. Not even God. The Bible says that he will remember our sins no more (Hebrews 8:12). God is not going to bring those charges up again, nor should we. And certainly, no one else can bring them up. Its as if we have never sinned. And that is correct, because in Christ we have been pardoned. Furthermore, Jesus is interceding for us. The word “intercede” means to “come between”. We are “in Christ”, which means we are covered by Christ and He comes between us and the Father – so that when we do sin, the Father sees Christ and the blood shed on the cross, and He remembers Christ covenant and not our sin. Let that Good News fill you with joy today!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that in Christ, I am a new creation, pardoned and free. Thank you that in Christ you do not remember my sins. Thank you that in Christ I am free to walk in peace and victory. May the joy of the Lord fill me this day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
