Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Philippians 2:14
Do everything without complaining and arguing…
One thing that many non-believers complain about believers is that believers are often grumblers and complainers – especially when things are not going well. Our verse for today exhorts Christians to “do everything without complaining and arguing.” “Complaining” is often interpreted as “grumbling”. The question is how is it possible to do this. It’s one thing to say – “don’t be complaining arguing”, but the text tells us to “do everything without complaining and arguing.” Philippians 2:13 (the verse before our verse for today) tells us how it is possible to be obedient to this admonishment. Philippians 2:13 reads – “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Jesus indwells us, as does the Father and the Holy Spirit too. We have all the power we need to be obedient to the Lord and not be grumbling, complaining or arguing.
Prayer: Almighty God, Father – Son – and Holy Spirit – thank you for being the power within me that empowers me to be obedient to the command to not be complaining or arguing. Fill me with that power for today, and I surrender and submit to your power and Lordship. Be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
