Text: Psalm 18:3

“I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.”

King David declares in Psalm 18:1 that the Lord is his strength. And David knows this strength because he knows the Lord to be his rock, his fortress, his deliverer, his refuge, his shield and the horn of his salvation. Because David knew all this, he could without hesitation call on the Lord and the Lord would save him from his enemies. And this applies to us. All that David said about being the rock, the refuge, etc. is also true for us. And that is because those descriptors depict truly the character of God. They aren’t just true for David. Rather, because they are true “of” God, they are true “for” all who believe in the Lord. And that is why we can call upon the Lord and He will save us from our enemies. In fact, we ARE saved. And this is the cause for great celebration of the goodness of God. So, who are your enemies that you are facing today? The Lord has already saved you from them.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness in all that you are to me as my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. Thank you that I can call upon your name in any circumstance and you will show me your victory. I surrender everything in the day to you. Manifest your glory and empower me to be as faithful to you as you are to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
