Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:36
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
Life is full of adjustments. Things are always being calculated, examined and corrected. When were doing carpentry, we measure often to make sure the cut is going to be correct. If the measurement is not correct, then again, the correction is made.
The Bible is our measuring tool. The Bible measures everything. The Bible is beneficial for instruction, correction and reproof (2 Timothy 3:16). Why do we need correction? Because sometimes, we turn back to our sinful nature; we do things that are wrong, that are selfish. And it is the Bible that helps us to see the error, and the Bible will help us to “turn our hearts” back to His Word. This is called repentance. The Word of God keeps us from pursuing selfish gain. The Word keeps us planted, rooted and growing in Jesus. May the Word of God, like a sword, cut deep to the heart of the issue so that we are free form the old self (Hebrews 4:12)
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the Bible that corrects me and causes me to turn away from my selfish agenda; and turns me back to you. Be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
