Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
August 31 2026
Text: Psalm 119:41
May your unfailing love come to me, Lord, your salvation, according to your promise.
There are three references to “your” in this verse. And place together as a form of parallelism, it becomes the articulation of the Gospel.
1. “your unfailing love”. The Psalmist says that “may your unfailing love come to me…” It has, in the form of the incarnation; it came in the person of Jesus Christ, the Saviour crucified.
2. “your salvation”. The Word on the cross, the Word raised from the dead – this the provision of salvation by grace through faith. Jesus Christ is the Word of salvation.
3. “your promise”. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise in the Word of God. The promises help us to know Jesus more and more.
Taking these three points together, we have the Word of God pointing to the Living Word that is Jesus Christ Himself. And this is the Word that dwells in us and is the source of all the joy that He wants to make complete in us. This should cause to erupt in loud praise and adoration in Jesus.
Prayer: Father God, thank you that Jesus Christ is your expression of unfailing love, is salvation and the fulfillment of every promise spoken by you. May my heart erupt with praise and adoration to your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
