Daily Light: August 28th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:40

How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.

Righteousness. That’s important and significant word in the Christian faith. In its simplicity, it simply means that we have a “right” relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We have become the righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). And we are to hunger and thirst for the fullness of that righteousness (Matthew 5:6). As we feed on and drink in that righteousness (the fullness of our relationship with Jesus) we will be satisfied. It is this satisfaction that preserves our life. And it is the eating and drinking of the Lord’s precepts, that are found in the Word of God, that brings us satisfaction and growth. This is why it is so important to eat and drink the Word of God. It satisfies our soul, our hunger in the Lord. As we begin to eat and drink the Word of God, it causes us to hunger and thirst for more.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that my hunger and thirst for righteousness has been satisfied in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit, help me to stay in the Word so that satisfaction keeps multiplying and gives me so much joy and peace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
