Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
September 11 2026
Text: Psalm 119:50
My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
There is misconception in the minds of many believers and that is the idea that because they are Christians, there will be no suffering or struggles. And that is simply not true. We need to understand that it is precisely because we are Christians that the struggles we have and the suffering we experience do have to affect us. It is very clear in the Bible (see especially 1 Peter) that we are going to suffer.
Our verse for today gives us encouragement. “My comfort in suffering is this: your promise preserves my life”. The promises of God are found in the Word of God. And the more promises we can hide in our heart, the more comfort we will experience because the Word of God preserves us. No matter what we are experiencing, the Word of God gives us both comfort and hope and preserves us.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the written Word that is hidden in my heart, and points to the living Word that abides in my heart, that both preserves me and gives me hope. Be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
