Daily Light: October 6th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

October 6 2026

Text: Psalm 119:67

Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.

Think back to when you were a child. Did you ever get into trouble with your parents? When I got in trouble, it was because I broke a rule. When I got home after curfew, I got in trouble. I couldn’t argue from ignorance, because I knew before I went out what time I was to be home. My tardiness was because I didn’t want to go home yet. My “affliction” (punishment) was because I went astray (disobeyed, did my own thing, I sinned, committed and iniquity, I transgressed a rule). Isn’t it interesting to notice that when I obey the Word, I don’t go astray and I am not afflicted. There is peace and harmony. This is whjat it means to be a responsible Christian – obeying the Word of God. It is at this juncture that we walk in freedom from anxiety, in the peace of the Lord.

How about you? Are you knowing the peace of Christ because you are obeying the Word of the Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you fopr your written Word, by which I have the means to be obedient to your revealed will. As I yield myself to you Jesus, empower me with the Holy Spirit to be obedient so that I do not go astray and bear the consequences of my actions. In Jesus’ Amen.
