Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
October 7 2026
Text: Psalm 119:68
You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.
We have all had that neighbour that we thought was angry, grumpy, miserable, mean and hard to get along with. And because of these sentiments, we wouldn’t want to get to know then. We would avoid them.
At Seminary a student from one of the other denominational seminaries was in our class on Christian ethics. And the paper that this student presented was why we should have nothing to do with God, because He is cruel, mean and miserable. Isn’t it interesting that the Bible itself says 30 times that “God is good”. And we would know that if we read the Bible with any regularity. Obviously, this student didn’t read it. When we read the Bible, we will discover that not only is God good, but whatever He does is good. Knowing His goodness will compel us to want to learn His decrees.
How about you? Are you learning about the Lord ‘s goodness as you read His Word?
Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for being so good, in all that you are and in all that you do. Continue to teach me your goodness and I learn your decrees. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
