Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
October 8 2026
Text: Psalm 119:69
Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart.
The cedars of Lebanon have a surface root system, but when necessary are able to tap several meters into mountainous conditions to remain secure and get the necessary nutrients. Colossians says that we are “rooted” in Christ (2:7), which means that whatever circumstances come against us, whatever storms come our way, we will stand tall and forthright. This is a good reminder for when those storms of lies and gossip come against us. The Word is our anchor that keeps us rooted in Jesus. Because we are rooted and anchored in the truth, we don’t to be fearful or anxious of the lies of the devil. By staying in the Word, by keeping His law, we get stronger and stronger. His life in us sustains us through all storms and circumstances.
How about you? How are you standing up in the storms of life?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for rooting me in Jesus and rooting me in the Word. By your grace I can stand up through any storm. Be glorified in and throughme today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
