Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:32
I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.
All scripture is God breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). This means that the “words” that appear on the pages of the Bible is the breath of God, and this means that God is the author behind the words. The words point to the will of God. The written words point to the living Word, who is Jesus Christ. God will use His Word for His purpose. And this points to a greater reality; through the Word Jesus is guiding our life. The written word brings us into a deeper relationship with the living Word, Jesus. The more we know and understand the Word and Jesus, the more our understanding is “broadened”. This “understanding” is the path of knowing Him and knowing Him intimately causes us to walk the path of His commands. The more we know the Word, the more we know Jesus and the more we know Jesus, the more we love Him and the more we obey Him. And the more we know Him, the more we want to know the Word. And on and on it goes. The goal of reading the Bible is not more head knowledge, but heart knowledge.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit breathed Word that brought me into a relationship with Jesus. Thank you for the Word that continues to strengthen my relationship Jesus. By your Word, help me to grow ever deeper in my life with Jesus so thar I become more like Him. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
