Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:2-3
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! (ESV)
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies. What are the “testimonies” of God? Other translations render “testimonies” as “decrees”, “commands”, or “statutes”. All of which speak of that which has been spoken; referring to the “whole” Law. This would mean for us, the whole counsel of God revealed in the Holy Word of God.
As we keep His testimonies/decrees/command/statutes, we are putting Him first and, in that place, we will seek Him with all that we are, will do no wrong but walk in His ways. This is the dialectic pattern that needs to be established in us: know Him in the Word, learn His ways and walk in His ways. This is the path of happiness, of blessed in the Lord.
Are you committed to keeping His Word; to seeking Him and obeying Him? If yes, then you will be happy and blessed. If you are not experiencing the happiness of the Lord, then get rooted in His Word.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder that I need to be in the Word every day. Forgive me for not being devoted to your Word. Change my heart Holy Spirit that as I am in the written Word, I will know the Living Word (Jesus) more intimately and know your blessings. Be glorified in and through mew today. In Jesus’ name I pray.
