Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

September 15  2026

Text: Psalm 119:52

I remember, Lord, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them.

Many people complain that they have difficulty reading the Bible. And they don’t mean that they struggle with illiteracy. Most read the Bible like a grocery list. They rush through it. They don’t take time to read the text. The don’t take the time to let the event they are reading about to sink into their mind. They rush through it to check a box to say they got it done. The Word of God needs to be read slowly; needs to be savored; needs to be absorbed and digested. When the Word is treated this way, it becomes easier to remember and recall. And when it becomes easier to remember and recall, the comfort from God’s Word is immediate and long lasting.

Next time you take time to read the Word of God, take time to read it slowly and digest it so that you get all you can out of it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to read the word slowly so that all its benefits are absorbed into my soul, giving me comfort and wisdom that I need for today. In Jesus’ name I  pray. Amen
