Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:54
Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.
The Psalmist declares that the Word of God is a like a song. This indicates that the Word erupts within like a fountain of joy. And that is exactly what the Psalmist says in Psalm 1 as well – that like a tree planted in the water (in the Word), produces much fruit- the fruit of the Spirit – which includes joy. Furthermore, at same time that the Psalmist is indicating that the Word wells up in worshipful songs, it also happens wherever he “lodges”. The Word of God is portable and no matter where the Psalmist is, he will always be assured of the Word’s affect, because the Word has been hidden in his heart.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that your Word produces such joy and worship from within. And thank you that wherever I lodge, your Word goes with me. That gives me great comfort and peace. May your Word inspire within me today even greater joy. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
