Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
April 20 2026
Text: 2 Peter 1:3
“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.”
Every believer knows that they are to “grow in the Lord”. “Growing in the Lord is Christian lingo meaning to become more like Jesus. And most Christians are overwhelmed by that thought, thinking that its impossible to be like Jesus.
The reality is that God the Father expects his “born again children to become like Jesus. And not only does He expect it, He has also made it possible. This is what our text for today is driving at: “By His divine power (Holy Spirit), God has given us everything we need for living a godly life”. He hasn’t given us “something” but He has given us “everything”. That means it is possible to become like Jesus and live a godly life like He did. We have to ask for the Holy Spirit daily, and surrender to that power and submit to His will. He will do the rest.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit to help me to become like Jesus and to live the life Jesus lived amongst us. I surrender and submit to you Holy Spirit – use me today to the glory of the Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
