Text: 1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
Over the last few days, we have noted from scripture the privilege we have of the Holy Spirit living in us and working through us. And this is because, as 1 Corinthians 3:16 says – we are temples of the Holy Spirit.
From the very beginning God was creating places where He would live with His people. This was true of Adam and Eve. This was true of the Tabernacle in the wilderness in the days of Moses and it was true with the Temple built by Solomon. The Temple represents God’s desire to be with His people. It represents His desire to have a personal relationship with each individually and each of us personally.
As individuals we are made up of spirit, soul and body. And the Temple is the summary of those parts. This means, that God wants to infuse Himself by His spirit into all of these parts, so that we are living in complete submission to Him and living in the fullness of His joy.
Prayer: Almighty God, I am humbled by the reality that in Christ I am a Temple of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, saturate all that I am so that all I am is for Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. May your joy be overflowing today as Iive for you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
