Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:31
I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame.
Jesus called the devil the father of all lies. Jesus called him this because he is a liar. And the devil loves to spread lies and accusations against the believers. These lies often take the form of gossip and slander – things that cause us to feel shame and embarrassment. The devil does this to defeat and discourage us. But we can combat this “holding fast” to the Word of God, or by clinging to His Word. By standing on the promises and principles of God, we will show ourselves unphased by the gossip and slander and we will be at peace. As it says in Psalm 91, the Lord is our refuge and He protects us from pestilence and from plague. Again, this is why it is so important to be in the Word – we will not succumb to the devil’s lie.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of your Word that conquers the lies of the devil. Help me to remain in your Word, to I am not easily swayed by the devils’ life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
