Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:59
I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes.
The challenge of reading the Bible is to make sure that we take what we read and apply it to ourselves by examining our hearts. Hebrews 4:12 states: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”. The Word of God is necessary for the transformation of our mind and heart. It is God’s desire for an intimate relationship with us through Christ. It is the issues of our hearts that keeps us from growing in the Lord. The Word of God exposes it those issues. The Word of God compels us to “consider our ways” and when they are found wanting, we repent and “turn our steps to His statutes”. The Word of God turns us back to the deeper things of the Word of God.
How is your intimacy level with the Lord? Don’t know, then ask yourself this question: am I allowing the Word of God to penetrate my heart to set me free from the bondage of sin?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your living Word. By your Spirit breathed Word, penetrate my heart and set me free. Crucify me so that it is no longer I who lives, but Jesus who lives in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
