Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
October November 5 2026
Text: Psalm 119:89
Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
The world treats the Bible, the Word of God, as if it came from a human source, that it was created by man. No, that is in correct. The Word of God is an extension of Himself. We know that God’s is eternal, so His Word must be eternal. We know that God is truthful, so His Word must be true. We know that God is all knowing, so His Word must contain His full wisdom. We know that God is all powerful, so His Word must be powerful. All these things about the Word are true, because they are true about God.
Furthermore, the Word of God stands firm “in” the heavens. The Word comes from God, outside of the heravens and the earth. The Word “in” heaven means that the Word of God commands the heavens and the earth. We live under the authority of God, by His laws and statutes revealed in His eternal Word.
All of this should humble us, and inspire us to praise the Lord God of all that is.
Prayer: Father God, thank you that your written Word is a reflection of you. It points to your majesty and glory and compels me to praise you because you and your Word are glorious. I surrender all to you this day. Be glorified in and through me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
