Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
April 22 2026
Text: Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
When we were born again, and became new creations, it wasn’t so that we can live our own lives. Rather, it was so Jesus Christ could live His life in us. And living in us would be the establishment of a personal relationship. Additionally, that personal relationship would lead to the Lord working through us, doing the “good works” that we were created to do long before we were ever born.
When Peter preached his sermon on the Day of Pentecost, he referenced the “good works” that Jesus did when He walked amongst us. Those good works were the “works of the Kingdom”. And that is our connection point. The good works that we were created to do were not just any good thing. Rather they were the good works that reflected the Kingship and Lordship of Jesus. These are the good works that the apostles did in the Book of Acts. These are the good works that the Holy Spirit want to do through us today. It’s not what we do, it’s what He does through us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, empower me to do the good works that I have been created to do that exalts Jesus Christ. In His name I pray.
