Daily Light: April 6th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105).

Text: Matthew 28:2

Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is generally understood to be an acknowledgement of the Father’s acceptance of the Son’s sacrifice for the sins of the world. Knowing that and read our text for today, reminds us of the great assurance, that there would be nothing that could prevent Jesus from being raised from the dead: not even what seemed like an earthquake because a huge stone had been rolled in front of the tomb that held the lifeless body of Jesus. It wasn’t actually an earthquake – it was the action of the Angels rolling the stone back.

Here’s the point: there was nothing that was going to be able to hold backj the resurrection – not even the feeble attempts of the religious system to put a rock in from of the tomb.

And this should be an encouragement to us. One day, believers will be raised from the dead. But there is another way to look at this. We have already been raised with Christ and are in Christ. We can be encouraged in that nothing can keep us from knowing that resurrection power that gives us power to live in victory every day, right now.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the Good News that the resurrection of Jesus guarantees that all my sins are forgiven. Furthermore, thank you for the Good News that there is nothing that can keep me from knowing that resurrection power that will help me to live today ibn victory and freedom. May everything in me bring glory to you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
