Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 119:9
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
The world is a very corrupt place, with lots of temptations and vices that can destroy those who seek to be pure before the Lord. And while this verse is focused on the “young man”, the question is applicable to Christians of all ages. How does a child of God stay pure in this dark and hurting world? By eating and digesting the Word of God.
Just as daily vitamins keep us healthy, so will a good daily dose of the living Word of God. By digesting it into our lives, the Word becomes a guard, a shield about our heart. God’s Word is never to punish or hurt us, but to protect us and give us much joy. In order for that last statement to be true, then we must be eating the bread daily.
Prayer: Father God, thank you that you want us to know you from your Word you want us to be protect ed. Help me Father, in Jesus, to be in the Word every day. Father, be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
