Daily Light: July 17th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

July 17, 2026

Text: Psalm 119:10

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

Many go through life desperate for the things if God. Many want God to be in their lives; they want their lives to be significant, to have purpose. They keep searching, keep hoping. And yet when it is suggested that they seek such answers in the Word of God, they object. The Word of God, they say, is just written by humans.

Let’s invert our verse for today. When I don’t wander from God’s commandments (His Word) its then that I can seek Him with my whole heart. It’s then that I can begin to know the Lord. The more we immerse  ourselves in the Word, the more we can know the Lord. Don’t forget, Jesus Himself said that all of the Word points to Him. Being in the Word will propel us into the presence of Jesus where we can know Him and His love. His love will overflow in our hearts.

First step: to stop wandering from His Word.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, by your grace renew in me a great hunger and desire for your Word, by which I can know Jesus as Lord, Saviour, redeemer, King and lover of my soul. With my whole heart I will seek you! Be glorified in and through me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
