Daily Light: June 12th

Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)

June 12, 2026

Text: Judges 16:22

But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved. (NIV)

After being captured by his enemies, having his eyes gouged out, and being enslaved to grind grain – the text says that “the hair on his head began to grow again”. After experience such humiliation from the Philistines, Samson began to experience God’s favourreturning. No doubt Samson, in his brokenness, would have repented and here we have an indicator that restoration is about to happen.

When, as Christians, we stumble and sin and put ourselves back in that place of being slaves to sin again, we can know that the Lord is gracious and seeks to restore us. However, restoration necessitates absolute surrender from us. It will not be life as usual, as we will certainly see with Samson. The Christian life is the life of humility and surrender to the Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the promise of restoration. Thank you for such grace. Help me to see the tempations that will lead to my failure and by your Spirit keep me on your narrow path. Be glorified in and through me today. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
