Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Text: Psalm 18:2
“The Lord is my rock…”
The City of New Orleans is sinking. Why is it sinking? Because it established and built in the mouth of the Mississippi River. And because it is sinking, giant pumps pump water out of the city back into the Mississippi. That was one of the reasons why Hurricane Katrina (August 29, 2005 – 1833 dead) was so devasting – the pumps failed and the city was doubly flooded with both the rain and the river. Unlike New Orleans, we won’t sink because our lives are built on Jesus Christ the rock, the foundation. In Luke 6:48 Jesus said the man is the one who “who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock”. Jesus’ teaching are the rock and so is Jesus. The Lord is my rock and he keeps me from slipping and sinking.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being my rock; for keeping me from slipping and sinking. Thank you for reminding me to remain steadfast in you by digging deep into you and into your teaching. May knowing that you are my rock give me peace and confidence today, no matter what happens. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
