Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
March 24 2026
Text: James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
One of the biggest mistakes that new believers make is the assumption that because they are now believers, nothing bad will ever happen to them. And when bad things do happen to new believers, they wilt and die and disappear. This is why our verse for today is so encouraging – those who persevere under trial will be blessed. In our text it reads that they will receive “the crown of life”. The crown of life is eternal life, divine reward and victory in the Lord.
1 Peter 1:6-7 reminds us that our tests and trial are to reveal the genuineness of ouf faith and loyalty. 1 Peter 4:12-13 makes it clear that our tests are an indication that we have entered the sufferings of Christ. Just as Jesus endured sufferings for us, so we will also endure sufferings and test. And as Jesus wnet to the cross with joy, so too shall we fix our eyes up on Jesus and run the race with joy that is set before us. In whatever comes our way, let us rejoice in the opportunity to show ourselves faithful to the Lord.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, whatever comes my way this day, help me to die to self and accept the path before me, so I can glorify you in all things. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
