Daily Light Devotional: Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105)
March 25 2026
Text: Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.
There are two concepts that people get wrong all the time. The first is that we have to be good enough in order to receive eternal life from God. That is incorrect. We are born as the children of Adam, and are completely spiritually dead. That means we can’t do anything to earn or salvation. We don’t even deserve eternal life or forgiveness or heaven itself. Because of our sinful nature we deserve only hell. The gift of eternal life is a “gift” that is given when one believes and receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. This gift is a gift of grace.
The second concept is this: that once we are saved, we have to be good enough to keep this gift from God. That is incorrect too. We can’t do anything to keep the gift of eternal life. That gift is kept for us in Christ. The life we liver know is Chrsit living in us – that is His grace at work.
As you start this day, rejoice in the Lord’s goodness to you and don’t rely on yourself, rely on the Lord who lives in you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of grace that grants eternal life in Christ Jesus; thank you for the gift of grace that helps me to live totally surrendered to the Lords by faith. Be glorified in all I do today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
